Research Survey Queries Families About Mental Health

We are excited to share a new research opportunity brought to you from social workers at Children’s Friend, Inc., an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Kim Hager, LICSW, and Maria Martinez Calderon, LMHC, share that the "study the experiences of families accessing mental health treatment for their children. For the purpose of our study, we intend to compare three groups – caregivers of children with one or more mental health conditions, caregivers of children with mental health conditions and common medical conditions, and caregivers of children with mental health conditions and rare disease." The survey should only take 10-15 minutes of your time, and is available in English and Spanish.

The survey is available, here, in English and Spanish.

The reason Kim and her colleague Maria decided to pursue this research after encountering families facing issues around accessing mental health care. Kim says, "families my colleague and I serve sparked our interest in wanting to look further into families' access to mental health treatment for their children and led to this research project. The hope is the survey results will provide an understanding of barriers families face in accessing mental health treatment for their children and will assist mental health providers in tailoring services to meet families’ needs."
